The new manufacture movement from Chronoswiss, marks a significant advancement in the brand's engineering excellence. First introduced in 2023, this movement is distinguished by its ruthenium plating, a tungsten rotor and a Côtes de Genève finishing radiating from the center & echoing the brand's signature ray Guilloché. Developed in collaboration with La Joux-Perret, featuring 55 hours of Power reserve this complex movement is to be found in the next generation timepieces of Chronoswiss.
Chronoswiss increasingly favors titanium for its lightness. It has the best strength-to-weight ratio among metals, making it highly sought after in aerospace. Additionally, titanium is corrosion-resistant and skin-friendly. For its creations, Chronoswiss exclusively selects the toughest available titanium alloy, Grade 5.
Guilloché is a traditional technique, which engraves detailed, interwoven lines on surfaces, creating unique light patterns. Chronoswiss excels in this art, producing dials with precise, radiating designs using two main guilloché machines: the straight-line and rose engine. Despite the absence of manuals for over two centuries, Master-Guillocheurs have maintained their expertise through a deep understanding of these machines. Creating one of those complex dials takes several hours. Today, Chronoswiss's guilloché dials stand as both a tribute to and a celebration of this enduring craft, showcasing its timeless appeal with a modern twist.
Chronoswiss excels in enameling, where glass dust is melted into radiant dials at high temperatures, preserving a now-scarce skill. This intricate process involves finely grinding enamel pigments, applying them to a guilloché surface, and firing them in an 850°C oven to create a perfect, glassy finish. The layers are built up through multiple firings to achieve the desired richness in color and depth, imbuing their watches with eternal brilliance.
